Galls, Diseases, and Pests - Oak Burl
Previous Plant    Back to Thumbnails    Next Plant

Burls on trees are caused when the tree undergoes some type of stress. The stress can result from an insect infestation or a disease pathogen (fungus, virus, or bacterium). But once it is formed, the burl continues to grow with the tree and neither harms the tree nor indicates that the tree is diseased.
